Anointing of the Sick

If someone is ill or preparing for surgery, or are hospitalized and would like to be anointed please contact the parish office at 970-926-2821 x 107.  Please note that most hospitals no longer release the names of their patients for privacy reasons, so we must rely on you informing the parish of a friend or a loved one in the hospital.

Automatic Electronic Fund Transfers

The parish offers Automatic Electronic Fund Transfers as an option for your offertory donations on the 5th or 20th of each month, or both dates. If you would like to set up this option, please contact mbrock@stclareparish.com  or see online forms under “Ways to Give.”

Building Committee

St. Mary’s building committee assists and advises the pastor in regards to building, property and maintenance issues. They will have a very active part during St. Mary’s expansion. Contact Vern Brock 970-471-2421.

Bulletin Submissions

Bulletins are available at the entry doors of the church or online. Announcements for the bulletin should be submitted by no later than 5:00pm on Monday’s to be included in that weekend bulletin. 

Communion to the Sick and Homebound

Trained parishioner volunteers visit the sick, the shut-ins and the elderly of the parish and bring them communion. Contact parish office at 970-926-2821 x 107

Finance Council

The function of the Finance Council is to advise, assist and support the pastor in achieving the most responsible stewardship of resources in carrying out the work of the parish. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at St. Clare’s.

Grief Recovery Outreach Program

Moving beyond death, divorce and other losses. People say you have to let go and move on in your life, but they don’t tell you what you need to do to accomplish that. The Grief Recovery Outreach Program not only makes that possible, but provides partnerships and guidance to ensure that it happens. This 9 week group program is offered 4 times a year. Mass Intentions

You can arrange to have a Mass offered for a friend, loved one, or family member, living or deceased by contacting the parish office at  970-926-2821 x 107. The suggested donation for a Mass intention is $10. Mass cards can also be mailed with your intention upon request.

Parishioner Registration

We encourage all newcomers who wish to join our parish on a full time or part time basis to become members. You can do so by contacting the parish office during the week or pick up a parish registration form at the back of the church locations or on the parish website under Parish Registration.

Pastoral Council  

The function of the Pastoral Council is to advise, assist, and support the pastor along with the parish staff in the accomplishing pastoral objectives. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at St. Mary’s. 

Prayer List in Bulletin

If you would like to have prayers said for the names of ill and deceased loved ones printed in the parish bulletin (with the permission of the family) please contact the parish office by Monday’s at 5pm in order to have it listed in that weekend bulletin at 970-926-2821 x107.

Safe Environment Training

The Archdiocese of Denver requires that ALL employees and every volunteer in the parish or school who has contact with children complete Safe Environment Training. All parents and caretakers of children are encouraged to attend, even if they are not required to do so. Visit www.archden.org under Offices: Child & Youth Protection link for more information. Liturgical Ministries

The Liturgy is central to our life together at St. Clare & St. Mary’s. There are many opportunities to participate in the ministries related to our worship such as greeters, ushers, lectors, Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion, servers, musicians and altar servers. If you want to become involved in liturgical ministries, please contact the following:

  • Children’s ChoirThis choir is open to all St. Clare of Assisi School students only. Contact  Sr. Mary Andrea at  970-926-8980.
  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy CommunionThe ordinary minister of Holy Communion is a bishop, priest or deacon. However, other members of the faithful may be commissioned to assist with the distribution of the Sacrament as needed. If you are commissioned and see at Masses that extra ministers are needed, please feel free to offer your help. At St. Clare please contact Stasi at acriso590@gmail.com. At Beaver Creek contactthe parish office at 970-926-2821 x 107.
  • Lectors: A lector is a trained parishioner who proclaims the first and second readings during Mass. At St. Clare please contact Carleen Sweet at 970-331-4211 or carleensweet@comcast.net.
  • Music:  Vocalists and instrumentalist ministers at welcomed and needed at all weekend liturgies. For Masses at St. Clare and Beaver Creek contact Carleen Sweet at carleensweet@comcast.net.
  • Ushers:  The ushers are responsible for hospitality and meeting the needs of people at all weekend masses. If you see that you can help during a Mass, we welcome your involvement.
  • Sacristans:  The sacristans are responsible for the preparation and care of the materials used in the liturgy.

Religious Education and Organizations

Adult Faith Formation Ongoing adult faith formation is to be at the forefront of parish planning. Lifelong formation is always needed and must be a priority in the Church’s catechetical ministry. This program assesses adult needs of parishioners at all stages of adult life and seeks to respond to these needs accordingly to support a vital, mature and growing faith life within the parishes. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Catechetical formation for adults wanting to become Catholic. Included in this process are those who are un-baptized, those baptized in other Christian Churches and adult Catholics who have only been baptized. The length of the process depends on whether the person is un-baptized or baptized and how much they know about the Catholic Church. The usual length of time for someone who is un-baptized is approximately one year. Contact Gelasio Velasco at 970-328-3003 or email gvelasco@stclareparish.com  

Family Catechumenate Initiation for Children and Youth

This process, called the Family Catechumenate, is for those second grade through high school who have never been baptized or who have been baptized in other Christian Churches who want to become Catholic. It is also for baptized Catholics who are grade seven or older who have only been baptized Catholic and need to celebrate First Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Eucharist. If adults in the family also want to become Catholic or complete their sacraments they can do so. At least one adult needs to attend with the child or teen and will be responsible for working at home as a family as part of the process. ORGANIZATIONS

Habitat for Humanity

An ecumenical, grass roots organization with the goal of eliminating poverty housing. It helps to build or renovate houses with as much volunteer labor and donated materials as possible. The home is sold to a family in need of decent housing, at no profit and no interest. The cost of the home is repaid over a fixed period of years; these house payments are recycled to build more homes. Habitats solution to low-income housing emphasizes partnership and participation. The homeowners are required to participate in the construction of their own home and to help other prospective homeowners work on their homes. We invite parishioners to join work parties at Habitat sites. The parties meet and conduct an on-site workday monthly. Knights of Columbus 

The Knights of Columbus has a chapter at St. Mary’s that meets the first Wednesday night of each month at 7:00pm. They are active in parish events as well as with the mission of the Knights of Columbus on a state and national basis. The Knights annually sponsor a Lenten Fish Fry Dinner, Rummage Sale, annual Spaghetti Dinner with cake auction, helps with St. Mary’s Feast Day celebration, and hosts State sponsored Special Olympics at Eagle bowling alley. Annually, students in grades 8-12 can potentially earn Scholarship money by taking part in the annual K of C Essay Contest. A different topic is presented each year. What is Stewardship?

Stewardship is an expression of gratitude to God. It reminds us that we are the administrators, and not the owners, of our assets. It fills a need deep within us to worship God and to thank Him for the abundant blessings He has showered upon us.

Christian stewardship can be identified by several meaningful characteristics; the most important is that it strengthens our relationship with God. It is a way of life, not a program that has a beginning and an ending, and it leads us to share a portion of our time, talent, and treasure so that the Good News of Jesus Christ may be shared with those who do not know Him.

Stewardship of Treasure

Open your hearts to the love God instills in them. God loves you tenderly. What he gives you is not to be kept under lock and key, but to be shared. The more you save the less you will be able to give. The less you have, the more you will now how to share. Let us ask God, when it comes to ask God for something, to help us to be generous. Money and all of the things that we possess (our treasure) are gifts from God that we are asked to care for and generously share for our own benefit and the good of others. It is important for us to share our money and all of our material possessions for two reasons: first, because all the good things that God has made (including money) are meant to be shared, and second, because each of us has a need to give.

We need to give our money to individuals and families in need, to the Church, and to other worthwhile charitable organizations because giving money is good for the soul and because we need to return thanks to a loving God for all of the many blessings each of us has received.

Stewardship of treasure is giving as much as we can, as often as we can, from the heart as a faith response because we are generous stewards who want to share our time, talent, and treasure with others. Frequently, in discussions of stewardship, reference will be made to the “biblical tithe” (giving 10% of income) and other norms that could provide helpful guidelines for generous giving. As disciples of Jesus, each of us has a responsibility to support the Church and to contribute generously to the building up of the Body of Christ.

Missions/Second Collections

These collections support local, national and international groups involved in ministering to those who are in need of food, clothing, shelter, education and medical services. We provide 10% of our offertory from St. Mary’s and St. Clare’s to other organizations and Special Collections recommended by the Archdiocese of Denver. Stewardship of Time

Stewardship of time involves the realization that none of us “owns” time. Each of us is given only so much of it, and planning a careful schedule in order to have the time to work, to rest, to play, and to pray is vital in the stewardship of our physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual lives. In a busy society like ours, time is one of the most precious possessions we have. How we spend our time is perhaps the clearest indication of our progress in a life of Christian discipleship. Stewardship of Talent

There are many talents that we possess. Stewardship of talent calls us to search out those talents, nurture them, and help them to grow, and then share them with other human beings. Our first and greatest commandment is “To love our God with our whole heart, our whole soul and our whole mind.” We do that by using God given talents for the benefit of others, and doing that brings us directly to our second greatest commandment, “To love our neighbor, as we love ourselves.”

The Stewardship of Talent shows us the way to a Spiritual life, a oneness with God through reaching out to another human being. So, the Spirituality of Giving through the Stewardship of Talent is a part of the open secret of living a spiritual life.
